The swimming pool heat pumps produced by our company mainly include the following types:
Residential Pool Heat Pump
Residential pool heat pump is an energy-efficient device that works like an air conditioner in reverse, extracting heat from the outdoor air and transferring it to your pool water, allowing for comfortable swimming in cooler weather by using less energy than gas heaters and extending the swimming season.
Commercial Pool Heat Pump
Commercial Pool Heat Pump is a large, energy-efficient HVAC device that extracts heat from the air to warm large swimming pools and spas, using electricity to move heat rather than generate it, offering significant energy savings for hotels, resorts, water parks, and community centers while providing year-round comfort and extending swimming seasons.
Advantages of Swimming Pool Heat Pump
Energy Efficiency That Saves You Money
Unlike traditional gas heaters that rely on burning fuel, pool heat pumps work by drawing in warm air from the environment and using it to heat your pool water. This process consumes far less energy, significantly reducing your monthly heating costs.
Extend Your Swimming Season
When fall and winter roll around, unheated pools can become too cold to enjoy. A pool heat pump ensures that your water stays at a comfortable temperature, so you don’t have to cut your swimming season short.
Low Maintenance and Long-Lasting Performance
One of the standout benefits of pool heat pumps is their durability. With proper care, they can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years, making them a solid long-term investment. Unlike gas heaters, which require frequent servicing, heat pumps have fewer components that need maintenance, saving you both time and money over the years.
Quiet and Hassle-Free Operation
Nobody wants a noisy heater disrupting their backyard oasis. Thankfully, pool heat pumps operate much more quietly than traditional gas heaters. They also come with automatic temperature control, allowing you to set your preferred water temperature and let the system handle the rest—no constant adjustments required.
Installation Steps for Swimming Pool Heat Pumps
Switch Off the System & Drain the Filter
Safety first. Turn off the power, decompress the system, and remove the filter from plumbing positions if needed to prevent an arms race when adding or subtracting plumbing fittings.
Tap Into The Vernacular Pipeline
Normally, you would splice into your return line after it goes through the filter and chlorinator. Union connections or unionized isolation valves for easy service without emptying your pool.
Connect the Pump with PVC Pipes
Glue rapid-set PVC fittings, pool temp. Apply a thin and even layer of primer as well as cement. Verify that the correct slope for water run-off is important, and the pressure ratings of piping.
Wiring Up the Light
Requires a dedicated breaker, NOT on a shared circuit. Must be a lockable disconnect as per code.
Leak Test & System Start Up
Testing: Charge the system, check for leaks, then energize the power. There will be a hum from the unit, and then warmed water will be gently delivered. Electrical load, watch for a little while after startup,
Optimize and Balance
Set the thermostat on the pool for its desired temperature (usually between 78-82°F). Make sure your circulation pump operates for as long (usually 8–12 hours per day) as the heat pump produces output.
Precautions for Using Swimming Pool Heat Pumps
Clean the Heat Pump's Coils Regularly
The coils in your heat pump play a crucial role in the heat exchange process. Over time, dirt, debris, and even insects can accumulate on the coils, affecting their efficiency. When the coils are dirty, your heat pump has to work harder to heat your pool, leading to increased wear and tear.
Check and Clean the Air Filter
The air filter in your swimming pool heat pump helps keep dust, dirt, and other particles from entering the system. Over time, filters can become clogged, restricting airflow and making it difficult for the pump to operate efficiently. To prevent this, you should check and clean the air filter regularly.
Inspect the Fan and Fan Blades
The fan and fan blades are crucial for your heat pump’s ability to transfer heat. If these components become damaged or obstructed, the pump’s efficiency will drop, and it could even lead to more severe mechanical issues. Performing a quick inspection every few months can help you catch problems before they escalate.
Maintain Proper Water Flow
One of the key factors in the performance of a swimming pool heat pump is the flow of water through the system. If water flow is insufficient, it can cause the pump to overheat or shut down. On the other hand, too much flow can also strain the pump and reduce efficiency. It’s crucial to keep the water flow at an optimal level for the heat pump to function properly.
Schedule Regular Professional Maintenance
While DIY maintenance can go a long way, having a professional inspect your swimming pool heat pump once a year is essential. A qualified technician can perform a more thorough check, spot potential issues you may have missed, and make any necessary adjustments or repairs.
